Day 14 Complete - Stupendous Day

Another Brilliant Day..
10 long hours but a great day was had by all..

After a quick breakfast we waved goodbye to Madam @ Kositt Hill and headed off on the 100 km hike to the Phu Hin Rongkla National Park and onto the Alpine Climb..,

These lovely Co Drivers sat waiting for their Flowers.. I think they may have a long wait. Romance is not in the air..
Only exhaust fumes and grime today..

We left promptly at 7.36am

We turned in the direction of Khao Kho and just as we were 1km from the Summit the Old Girl flaked out.. The ascent was just too much for her, far too
steep and we came to a quick 'hand brake ON' position and i dived off to ram the first stone i could see under her back wheels..

So there we were yet again stuck on the side of the mountain.. We waited and waited and then out of the Blue lol came a Blue Mustang Sally (Car 51) and a very kind offer of a Tow up the last kilometre from the 2 knights in shining armour..
We owe them big time!!!

Big Thank You to Car # 51

And back on the road we were and full steam ahead to The Alphine Climb..

A quick top up with water and we were off.. It was a tough one.. One of the Bentleys had to stop to fix a tyre but we had to sail by as we were struggling again.. This old girl just does not like these steep climbs :(((

It ended up being a 4.5 km vicious climb. We were lucky it was saturday and saw very little traffic coming to meet us so were able to take the corners very wide and got enough powere to climbe higher and higher and just about managed to complete this gruelling task..
We stopped after the test to let her rest and when David slowly released the radiator cap it burst into a Hot Spring, the water shooting into the air showering me and the iphone with boiling water lol as if i haven't had enough burns for one trip!!! I leapt off the car in seconds so no harm done thank goodness. What a show to put on for the Rally camera lol..
Hopefully we will get a clip of it at some stage lol

Running late so we hurtled off to the coffee stop to get our 'stamp' and a quick 'chin wag' with Idris..

Lunch Stop but we only had 15 minutes and we had to head off to the 'Stairway to Heaven' Test..
Not as bad as it sounded and many crew decided against it as the title had put them off.. We went for it and had great fun.. David actually drove quite slowly which was a great relief the old girl had completed a mammoth task already and didnt need any more strain..

Lunch Break on a Floating Restaurant that sadly we couldnt enjoy (no time) :((

David did manage a quick lunch break.. Meals on wheels lol

Onto the Test

And a quick blast around the park lol

Martin & Tommy had a ball :))

And then the Old Girl ran out of petrol again!!
Another Knight in Shining Armour came to our Rescue.. Boy were we lucky today...

Not sure how far our gratitude can stretch today..

And finally back on the home run..

End of another challenging day..

A banquet is being prepared.. Yum yum
